  •  Kerr Orchestra had the most entries of all the Region 23 high schools, next to Bellaire, however half of their entries were on guitar.

  • Students chose events and music on their own. We never told the kids they had to do this.  It was strictly volunteer.  They all wanted to perform a solo and/or ensemble.

  • All of the orchestra piano accompanists were students from Kerr High School

Totals:

42 state qualifiers (some of the same kids twice)-20 solos, 5 ensembles

39 out  of 81 entries were superior ratings.  33 out of 81 were Excellent.

We have truly great kids here at Kerr!!!

Solo and Ensemble is a true test of a students understanding of the fundamental and advanced skills of music.  They prepare the music without daily guidance from teachers and are able to choose music that they feel most passionate about.  The students took the skills they learn in lessons and every day band class and applied them to the music they chose!

 Congratulations to these outstanding musicians!
