Kerr Ensembles aarned a total of 4 Sweeptakes trophies and 2 Sightreading Trohpies during our UIL performance season this year.  Ensembles earning the highest rating were Varsity Full Orchestra, Cambiata Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band.  Non-Varsity Full Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra both earned Sightreading Superior(1st Division) ratings as well! Congratulations to all the students who worked so diligently this year to make magical moments in your music.

  13. Alief Band Day Performance-The band performed their "Tour of the Radio" on Thursday, October 18th for the districts band students at Crump Stadium.  We were well received and gave a fun and energetic show.  Click Here- to watch a video of it (Windows Media Player Required)

  14. Congratulations to Evonne Tran, Alex Insco, and Morgan Bounds for qualifying to perform with the Region Orchestra on Nov. 18th.

  15. Congrats to Bethany Bonnette, Man-Khoi Nguyen, Brittany Thompson, Joshua Chan, Chung Wang, and Alan Kwok for making the Region 23 Orchestra! 

  16. Veterans Day Celebration 8 1/2 by 14 inches   Invite your friends, family and Veterans to the Veterans Day Celebration on Saturday November 10th. We will honor our Veterans beginning with fun activities, concessions, military demonstrations and more at 5:30 p.m.  A formal concert at 7:00 p.m. will then celebrate  our veterans with patriotic music, speeches and theatrical demonstrations. The performance will take place in the Alief-Taylor Auditorium and promises to be a moving and memorable event!

  28. Congratulations to the 66 members of the band and orchestra who qualified for the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Competition!  Students earned over 120 medals for their performances

  29. Congratulation to all of the 39 students that auditioned at the Region Band competition Dec. 8th and 9th.  Kerr had 16 people qualify for Area competition and 12 students qualify for a performing band. Students will compete for state spots at the Area competition on Jan. 6th.  Students will perform at the clinic and concert Jan. 12-13th. For a complete list of all the winners click here.

Seniors visit your area of the website to find out how to win scholarships, audition for a school of music, and prepare your self for auditions.  Also, check out your favorite schools audition requirements.  A special area for careers in music is included also.  www.aliefkerrmusic.org/senior.htm

  31. Congratulations to Bethany Bonnette and Jerry Chang for advancing into the All-State String Audition Process.  They should know soon if they were selected for an All-State Orchestra. Lola Fisher recently placed first in her region audition for Harp. Congratulations Lola!

  32. Band Students competed at the Region Orchestra Wind and Percussion Auditions on Mon, Oct 30.  Morgan Bounds placed 2nd over all and won and chance to audition at the 5Area competition.  Leonard Martin placed 3rd on Bassoon.  We think this might be the first bassoon player from Kerr to place into a region level group.   9 Students competed overall and did and excellent job. Congratulations to all involved!

  33. Percussion Students Win the Houston Chronicle "Stomp" Challenge. They won free tickets to Stomp and performed before the show. For more information click here)

  34. Congratulations Morgan Bounds for being selected 2nd for  the Region Jazz Band. Good luck on your Jazz State Audition Placement.

  35. Congratulations to Bethany Bonnette and Jerry Chang for being selected to the Region Orchestra this year.  Edgar Handal also placed as an alternate.
